FAQ
What is Legacy Animations about?
We are a creative animation company that focuses exclusively on preserving the legacy of our clients. We think it’s a shame that when successful entrepreneurs and others retire they are soon forgotten. A lifetime of struggle, overcoming adversity and significant contributions to society is lost. It’s like it never happened. Often the families of these stellar individuals have only a vague idea of their stories. Animations are a fun way to tell those stories so others will want to listen.
What makes your animations different?
We bring sense of humor and whimsy to our creations. This makes viewing them enjoyable and fun. This is in sharp contrast to more serious and boring animations that try to mimic video. Nobody wants to watch those animations.
What is the Process?
First you tell your story to us. We collaborate to determine what is a priority to include. We then create the video intuitively. Each frame leads to the next. The best stories unfold spontaneously. Great speakers have an idea of what they want to accomplish. They know that an outline is better than a literal word-for-word script. The audience can absolutely tell the difference and will quickly tune out a boring manipulative production. They want a compelling production that tells the story in an entertaining honest manner. So that’s what we create.
Is the price fair?
Here are estimates for costs of a traditional video production and 2D animation. Video tends to be boring and animations are typically done by cartoonists who don’t understand the nuances and importance of a one-time only legacy animation.
How does animation compare with video?
Animation is abstract and reaches the subconscious mind easier than the more realistic video. The subconscious mind tells the conscious mind what it wants. The conscious mind is well advised to listen. Animation has no restrictions on story telling. This is how dreams work. Anything at all is possible. This is truly liberating. Dreams for the future can seem reachable and more real that the restrictive conscious mind allows. Video which focuses only on what and where you are at now and only tells you what is not possible and what you can’t have or do.
What are the key production differences?
Video is the result of what was in front of the camera lens and the associated sound at the time of recording. It can record only what you can physically produce. If you are not adept at speaking lines then it records a bumbling amateur. If you can’t act it records hesitant stultifying boring babble. If you’re not particularly pretty it records and displays that too. People get nervous and stressed when watching videos containing the above elements.
Characters in animation are always perfect as formed. They don’t get nervous or tired. Voice overs can be automated or recorded and edited. Animation is much easier to get right than video. Animation being familiar looks easy. So does martial arts. It’s not.
Can you communicate technical subjects?
Yes. Paul has an extensive background in engineering and science. See the About page for details.
What is a custom production?
Custom productions are one-off original animations exclusive for you that you own. These take a considerable amount of time to design and build with the prices reflecting this.
How can my animation be customized?
We can customize the primary character to resemble you. This can include age, ethnicity, sex, height, weight, hair color and so on. The result will not be photo realistic as that requires original art work at a much higher price. We match the latet in voice technology to connect to the characters.
What about AI generated characters and videos?
AI looks like AI. It is inevitably a lame attempt at depicting reality that is easily discernible as fake. The eyes tell it all… eerie and lifeless. Most people feel an immediate negative reaction to AI imagery… a visceral disgust. Moreover video is a poor medium to tell personal stories as it does not allow artistic freedom to create a reality other than what the lens sees. Animation is much more imaginative, compelling and entertaining. Unless perhaps if you are Spielberg and have a $100 Million budget. You will probably have just one shot at documenting your legacy so need to choose wisely.
What’s the guarantee?
The animation can be revised at no cost to be substantially as represented on request if within the first 3 days after delivery.
